For writers
A first draft is a race between your thinking and your hands, and your hands lose. You speak at over 120 words a minute and compose at a keyboard at about 31. Flit closes that gap without handing you a transcript to clean up afterwards.

No integration, no plugin, no waiting for support. Flit types wherever your cursor already is.
How it works
Wherever you would normally type: your manuscript, Notes, a Google Doc. Flit has no window of its own to switch to.
Speak normally, fillers and all. A small bar shows the words arriving as you say them, so you can see it working.
Finished text appears at your cursor about 0.7 seconds later, punctuated and formatted. No copying, no cleanup, no second window.
Prefer not to hold a key? Tap once to lock it on, or arm hands-free mode and Flit starts when you speak. Escape cancels any dictation.
The blank page wins because typing is slower than thinking.
Dictation gives you an unpunctuated wall you have to rewrite.
Cloud tools want a subscription and your manuscript.
Reading back a wall of unpunctuated text kills the flow you had.
What it looks like
You said
“um so the chapter opens with her uh leaving the house scratch that leaving the city”
Flit wrote · Notes
The chapter opens with her leaving the city.
“Scratch that” cancels the statement before it. Only the correction survives.
Fillers and false starts removed, punctuation and capitalization fixed, numbers and dates written properly. Say “new paragraph” and you get one.
Add characters, places, and invented words to your personal dictionary and they are spelled exactly right every time. Correct a word twice and Flit offers to remember it.
Turn on review mode and the text parks in the HUD so you can edit or discard before a single word reaches your document.
No account, no telemetry, no server. Your voice and your words never leave your Mac, and you can verify that with a network monitor.

Yes. Tap once to lock recording on and talk as long as you want, then tap again to finish. Flit transcribes while you speak, so there is no long wait at the end.
It cleans up speech, it does not rewrite you. Fillers and repeats go, your words and phrasing stay. Tone controls let you set how formal the output reads.
Yes. Flit types wherever you can put a cursor, including the Electron and Chrome apps that most dictation tools struggle with.
